The Wait Is Over…
If a day is a long time in politics, then two weeks is an eternity for YTM managers.
For two weeks we have been straining at the leash to gobble up points for our beloved teams, who have been out of action due to the international fixtures of the last fortnight.
At last, the Premiership is back and it provides the opportunity to bag a shed-load of points for YTM managers up and down the land.
Here’s the weekend preview…
New Toon Contingent Added to YTM Player List
After a fair few emails and calls asking for these two players, the following have been added to the YTM player list:
Teams with the most points
Have you ever wondered which real life team would amass you the most points in the YTM competition? Do you think Rafa Banitez has it made? Do you think Sir Fergie would be in the lead? Or would Sven’s new look Manchester City have him laughing at the top? Wonder no longer, here is a list of the points earned by each team, starting off at number 20.
Early Returns From Injury May Scupper YTM Transfer Plans!
As Matt stated in the last post, the most ‘dumped’ player so far in YTM has been Mr Wayne Rooney, after he got injured on the first day of the season, and it was thought we would be looking at months before he was back in action…
The Best of the Worst
With no Premiership games set to take place this weekend, it’s time to assess player performance so far in this year’s game.
Instead of singing the praises of Wigan’s new superstar Antoine Sibierski, or the free scoring Nicholas Anelka - let’s look at those guys who haven’t had much rub of the green.
Transfer floodgates have opened.
The YTM transfer stage has now opened up and will remain open until the end of the season… But that has not stopped the mad rush of punters who want to sort out their teams as early as possible.
It may be due to a few injuries, like Wayne Rooney, Brian McBride or Jamie Carragher. Or it could be due to players moving on to newer and older things like Solskjaer and Lua Lua.
It seems that now that Ronaldo has served his time for a mis-placed head - many think he can only get better from here and are snapping up the Portuguese star. Some young guns that have been blossoming in the early rounds are also proving to be popular picks for the transfers. Micah Richards is cheap for his quality and the YTM managers who did not select him from the start are making up for the lost time.
Mikael Forssell, as one of the cheapest strikers in the game has also got off to a flyer, and has wormed his way into many teams so that managers have some added cash for a big spend. Torres’ form has seen many managers expecting more big scores from the tall Spaniard. The purists will be focusing their attention on Anelka, the old maestro who seems to be in the form of his life and cannot stop scoring.
The time of transfers is always one of great stress for a manager, and with such a mixed up start to the season, many managers will be either losing their hair early or will be playing it safe. Will you hold on to your alloted 15 transfers and make decisions once a bit of stability has been restored to the Premiership? Or are you going on a spending spree to sort out your hapless wreck of a team?
