Fantasy Football - Inside The Mind of Mark Lawrenson
Never one to rest on his laurels, big Lawro has been ringing the changes to his all conquering YTM lineup.
King of the Dreamers
In the world of fantasy football, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the high-rollers rule the roost.
Leaderboards often contain the same old names, with streams of multi-entrant teams dominating the top of the table.
Not this year.
Up until last week, the manager at the top of the pile was James Dyson, a student from Huddersfield… (more…)

Sentenced To The Penalty
Last week’s blog “Seeing Orange” detailed my first ever red card which resulted in a penalty. Since I have been in the fair land that originated the beautiful game, I am yet to face the dreaded spot kick, but in my time at home I have faced a few - not very successfully mind you… But I thought it might be worth checking out the laws of the penalty kick, so the next one I miss, I can set up some complaints for the referee as to why I should have another chance to stop it. You will not believe how many laws are focussed on a single kick in the game… (more…)

Monday Morning Premier League Analysis
Derby 0 West Ham 5
The third time this season that Derby have conceded five. There appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the Rams.
Only worry for Curbishley was that McCartney limped off after 13 minutes with an ankle injury. All their goals came from midfielders. Bowyer now has 45 points thanks to four goals and two KC’s, although with his disciplinary record (five yellows) he’d be a risk - even at just £2.5m.

Are you Roo-ing your luck? (Weekend Preview)
It’s becoming a season cursed with bad luck.
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s 3-game suspension in August, fantasy managers would be forgiven for thinking their misfortunes were over. That hasn’t been the case.
Looking at the top 10 most popular selections in the game, only two players have avoided injuries, suspensions or squad rotation - that’s rather alarming… (more…)

Glory, Glory, Man Utd?
The YTM masses have spoken - and they’ve voted Man Utd to run out as Premier League champions in May.
A whopping 48% of the votes in our previous poll went to Fergie’s men, with Arsenal expected to chase them home in second having secured a solid 30%.
Unbeaten Liverpool were next best with 14%, but poor old Chelsea could only muster 5% - just shading the mighty force known simply as ‘Other’ - which propped up the poll with 3% of votes.
Our new poll tackles the question on everyone’s lips: “Will you be buying an iPhone?”… oh hang on, no it’s not…
Soon the nation will go Israeli for a day, and we ask: “Will England qualify for Euro 2008?”
Didier Drogba and the art of standing upright
Balance is the result of a number of body systems working together. Specifically, in order to achieve balance the eyes (visual system), ears (vestibular system) and the body’s sense of where it is in space (proprioception) need to be intact. Also the brain, which compiles this information, needs to be functioning normally.
Now, which part of the above description could be causing problems for serial tumbler Didier Drogba? Take a moment to weigh up the following evidence, and reach your own conclusions.

Seeing Orange.
In my quest to get to know the game even better I have signed up to play goalkeeper in a small football league in London. On the weekend our team took part in the first round of the League Cup. After being down 2-0 our team managed a huge fightback and with 5 minutes to go we were leading 3-2. The opposition were relentless and kept piling on the pressure. Attack after attack was kept out, and with two minutes to go they broke down the left hand side. It was the striker on me, so I went out to meet him. I will admit, it was not the best challenge I have ever made. Hands and legs flailing everywhere but hardly any contact, and naturally, the striker went down in the box. The whistle blew and I had a moment of shock thinking that I was now going to have to try and keep a penalty out to save the game… (more…)
