As Christmas draws ever nearer, YTM really begins to roll into action.

The fixtures this weekend are the calm before the storm - because the weekend after is going to be a season-defining 24 hours in the Premier League.

Liverpool will face Man Utd, while Arsenal will take on Chelsea… but first of all, let’s look at this week’s games.

YTM Poll Results

The YTM voters have spoken and they’ve voted for Jose Mourinho to become the new England manager.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho received 38 of the votes (45%) and was the runaway winner, ahead of Martin O’Neill and Harry Redknapp.

Our new poll, in line with an upcoming BBC event, is “Who would you vote for as YTM Football Personality of the Year?”

Did Rodney Marsh win you over in the jungle? Will Jose Mourinho come out on top of another poll? Could you possibly give Steve McClaren a rare victory in 2007? Get voting now!

Premier League Clean Sheet Maestros

Willy Gallas has been hailed this week as a defensive ‘maestro’ by Arsenal colleague Kolo Toure. I hate to think how leaky Arsenal would be without him - they’ve only kept one clean sheet in the last six Premiership matches, conceding goals against the likes of Newcastle and Reading in that period.

Clean sheet points are a fantasy player’s bread and butter. Whenever your midfielders and strikers have a bad week in front of goal, you need something to fall back on, and a solid defence is the bedrock of any good fantasy team.

Premier League KC Kings

Here at YTM a lot of fuss is made over goal scorers. After Ronaldo scored his brace last night against Fulham, the office were all sneering and proud of their performances. Until we found out that every single one of us has Ronaldo in our teams (Useful piece of info that - use it, don’t use it… Up to you). And so I have decided to look for points from another source. One that is just as important, the KC. Check this list out for the KC Kings! (more…)

Monday Morning Premier League Analysis

Aston Villa 1 Arsenal 2

Having been played off the park in the first half Villa competed well in the second period, proving they’ll be challenging for “best of the rest”. Petrov was passed fit to play but only lasted 32 minutes. Craig Gardner’s third goal of the season - he seems to have the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time.

With Fabregas still injured Flamini pushed forward to good effect - he’s scored in his last two Premier League games. Even without their player of the season The Gunners were inspired in the first 45 minutes. Having not scored in eight games Adebayor has two in three - the start of a form patch me thinks.
