Gearing up for the Fantasy Cup

Chasetown have given us all a timely reminder of magical knockout cup stories.

Their last minute 1-0 win over League One outfit Port Vale, who missed two penalties, was the stuff of fairytale.

In January, we launch the YTM Cup, which will throw each and every fantasy team into the draw for the first ever pay-to-enter knockout cup competition.

It’s your chance to go on your own cup run. Can you reach the dizzy heights of the final?

Here are all the details you need to know…

The FA Cup attracted a record 731 entries this season. Blah! That’s nothing! The YTM Cup will begin with a qualification period involving over 85,437 teams!

This figure is subject to change, depending on entries into the game from now until then.

From the Qualification Round, the top-scoring 65,536 teams will make it to the First Round proper. These teams will be randomly drawn head-to-head against another team in the competition. The team with the most points that week will progress to the Second Round, while the loser will be eliminated.

This process will continue until eventually, when we arrive in May, there will be two teams left to battle out the final. The winner will receive £3,000, with the runner-up getting £1,000. The two losing semi-finalists will receive £150 each.

The YTM Cup will provide all the magic of the competitions in real life, with lady luck playing her part too. Everyone starts on an equal playing field. You’ll even be able to view your opponent’s team before the Round starts!

You could be in 85,437th place - but fear not! A good week during qualification and with some rub of the green there on in, you could find yourself in the latter stages!

Here is the proposed schedule:

12 January: Qualifying Stage (85,437+ teams)

19 January: Round 1 (Top-scoring 65,536 from Qualification are drawn in head-to-head matches)

29 January: Round 2 (32,768 progress to contest Round 2)

2 February: Round 3 (16,384 teams)

9 February: Round 4 (8,192 teams)

23 February: Round 5 (4,096 teams)

1 March: Round 6 (2,048 teams)

8 March: Round 7 (1,024 teams)

15 March: Round 8 (512 teams)

22 March: Round 9 (256 teams)

29 March: Round 10 (128 teams)

5 April: Round 11 (64 teams)

12 April: Round 12 (32 teams)

19 April: Round 13 (16 teams)

26 April: Quarter Finals (8 teams)

3 May: Semi Finals (4 teams)

11 May: The Final (2 teams)

Enter some new teams now in a bid for YTM Cup glory!

Good luck,

Matt H @ YTM

You need to rethink the facility that allows an opponent to view your team. Anybody on or near the leaderboard will have their team advertised on the forum. This could make the diference between winning or losing. Please rethink this.

Thanks for the feedback. We will thoroughly review the implementation of this facility nearer the launch of the Cup.
