Players Leaving for African Cup of Nations
The African Cup of Nations is going to see a large proportion of quality players leaving the island for a couple of weeks to play for their countries on their continent. This does not bode well for many managers who will need to fill the voids left by these players. Hopefully you will have a couple of transfers handy for some damage control - Here is a list of who is going to be crossing over to Africa for a couple of weeks at the end of the month…

Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton and Portsmouth seem like they are going to be hit hardest by the African Cup Of Nations. Ivory Coast have a huge handful of players to boost their chances in the Cup, and with Drogba due to be fit, they could be a force to be reckoned with.
There is a possibility that Bolton’s Diouf might be called out of retirement to try and inject the Senegalese team with the same class they displayed in the 2002 World Cup.
Benni McCarthy from Blackburn also has a chance to represent South Africa, however the player and the Bafana Bafana coach have had certain disputes over his commitment to the team which may see him being left out of the fray altogether.
If I have left anybody off the list that you can see or think of, please respond to the blog and let me know so that I can update it.
