The Nickname Game

Everyone loves the FA Cup. The passion, the drama, the heroics…

…unless you’re a fantasy manager, in which case, you have serious cause for loathing it - for two reasons.

1. You have to sit through an entire weekend, fists clenched with worry, as your precious fantasy assets give their all in a competition that doesn’t even benefit your fantasy team - praying that they manage to avoid pushing over the ref or karate kicking a spectator, or fracturing their skull, or bruising their earlobe.

2. It’s really boring. After all, football means more when fantasy bragging rights over your mates/colleagues are up for grabs.

So, we’ve come up with something insignificant, but fun, to take your mind off things.

The ‘name’ of the game is simple. We’ve given you twenty players, past and present, and twenty nicknames. Simply match the player to the nickname. Here goes:

Player Nickname
Daniel Amokachi Agent Mulder
Claudio Caniggia Plug
Fitz Hall Spiderman
Oleg Luzhny Bam Bam
Robert Prosinecki The Wardrobe
Marco Simone God
David Unsworth One Size
Juan Sebastian Veron The Animal
Ivan Zamorano Snowflake
Walter Zenga Chris
Martin Keown The Bird
Dan Petrescu The Bison
Winston Bogarde Beavis
Ronald Koeman The Black Buffalo
Michael Essien The Horse
Robbie Fowler The Magpie
Dennis Bergkamp Rhino
Papa Bouba Diop The Little Witch
Kiki Musampa Batman
Edmundo The Yellow One

We’ll publish the results next week. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to remind us of any favourite nicknames we’ve missed out…
