Spot the Whopper - answers revealed
It’s answers time in our regular trivia competition…..
We asked you to spot the massive fib among these footballing facts:
1 - FC Lierse of the Belgian League feature a Brazilian forward by the name of Creedence Clearwater Couto
2 - Former Tottenham hardman Pat Van Den Hauwe is now a landscape gardener in South Africa
3 - Alexsandr Hleb’s mother was a builder, while his father drove petrol tankers
4 - Jazz legend Gil Scott-Heron’s dad played for Celtic in the early fifties
5 - One-time Arsenal star Christopher Wreh has grown disillusioned with the game, and now tours with his pop band ‘Soul Rebels’
6 - Toronto FC midfielder Ronnie O’Brien, formerly of Middlesbrough, once topped a poll to find Time Magazine’s person of the century
7 - Toronto FC midfielder Ronnie O’Brien, formerly of Middlesbrough, was once voted Juventus’s best ever player.
8 - Clayton Blackmore, one of Manchester United, is a technical consultant for BBC Wales drama Torchwood
9 - John Hartson once admitted to kidnapping a sheep on a drunken night out with two Swansea team-mates
10 - Arsenal legend Bob Wilson’s middle name is Primrose
The footballing falsehood is, of course, number 8: Clayton Blackmore, a technical consultant on BBC drama Torchwood? Of course not!
Look out for more trivia in the weeks to come!
