Fantasy Football Choices

On what was only the second day of the summer transfer window, Manchester City completed the biggest transfer so far, and quite possibly the biggest of the entire transfer window. Only the signings of Kaka or Ronaldinho could possibly match the signing of Jô. The 21 year old Brazilian, full name João Alves de Assis Silva (I don’t think British commentators will even try), signed for an undisclosed fee. What will his YTM price be? Check the player list to find out!

I can’t say that I’m a follower of the Russian league, but I’ve been searching for video of what Jô can or can’t do. Now like most videos, below is all Jô’s best bits. Time will tell if he can make his mark over a whole Premier League season. The other question is can he score 20 goals or bring YTM managers extra points via KC’s? The one thing that I think we can be sure of is that he will play a lot of games at the start of the season.

All great strikers have a number of attributes. Below I have rated the attributes of Jô:

Pace
Jô is not going to run past anyone, however once he gets his long legs going he really covers the ground.

Feet
Jô is clearly left footed. However, he is comfortable shooting with both feet when the opportunity arrives. Jô seems very happy running at players with the ball. He also has a trick or two when he is in tight spot.

Head
Jo is a big lad and will scores goals with his head. I believe he will have the ability to convert some of the inviting crosses Martin Petrov puts in week-in, week-out. This could be the key to the signing, if Jô can replicate his movement in the box, and Petrov can provide him with chances to put away.

Jô took the penalties in a team with sharpshooter Vagner Love, which should mean he will expect to do the same at City.

Below I have posted two more videos, both showing Jô score in games against Inter Milan. Yes, the Italian champions, showing that he can hold himself against the big boys.

As a fantasy football manager Jô may be the only player I pick who has not played in the Premier League before. No, the Russian League is not as strong as the Premier League, however I think that Jô looks like he has enough ability to gamble on. He plays for a good team, and will play at least the first 10 games of the season.

I love your blog and use the info for my own premiership fantasy team but would be good for you to do an article on the Championship fantasy football at fantasy.football-league.co.uk. I need some help on players.

In regards to Jo - it is risk but one of those risks that can pay off and get you a good start to the season…
