Harry Redknapp’s English Army!
Is it me or is Harry Redknapp creating an English version of Arsene Wenger’s French Legion!
Peter Crouch has in recent weeks completed his reported £11 Million move, Jermaine Defoe arrived in January 2008, Sol Campbell and David James have been there for a number of seasons. In recent weeks reports have been circulating that Harry is looking to bring in another couple of England’s reserves.
Check out the video. As always, sorry about the music.
If Harry brings Shaun Wright-Phillips plus Nicky Shorey that will make 8 players with an England cap. Can these English players improve on Portsmouth’s 8th place finish last season?
Well if you look at this from a fantasy point of view, Portsmouth players are a good bet in my opinion. Look at the strike force… Defoe and Crouch should score the 30 goals a top 6 team needs. Harry has a powerful midfield, with a touch of quality in Niko Kranjcar, Lassana Diarra and Pedro Mendes.
At the back they have experience in Campbell, Sylvain Distin, Hermann Hreidarsson and others. This is complemented by Glen Johnson’s youth and at the back they have England’s number one in James.
Overall I think that Portsmouth are going to be very strong in the league. The only down side is how the players will react to having to play in Europe and then in the league a few days later.
I think that a minimum of two Portsmouth players in your fantasy team is a must.
But what do I know. I only run the game!
