Added due to popular demand…
This week, in preparation for the November Manager of the Month deadline, some players have been added to the YTM playerlist, so that you guys have the best crack at winning our £10,000 1st prize.
Whether I think they will do any good this season is irrelevant, for as Paul Weller so rightly said, ‘The public gets what the public wants’…
131 - Manuel Almunia - GK - Arsenal - £5m
Arsene Wenger seems to have decided that ‘Crazy’ Jens Lehmann is… well… not good. So Manuel Almunia has taken over in the Gunners’ goal, and they are top of the league! Wenger is great, isn’t he? Almunia’s value of £5m shows how well we think Arsenal will do this season, and how (un) likely Lehmann is to get his shirt back.
132 - Joe Hart - GK - Man City - £3m
Kasper Schmeichel didn’t exactly do anything wrong when he was in goal, but he never looked particularly assured between the sticks. Joe Hart has stepped up and Kasper is now out on loan at Cardiff (poor guy). Hart’s value of £3m is due to the fact that I am not convinced that he will be #1 when the January transfer window closes…
360 - Wilson Palacios - DEF - Birmingham - £2.5m
Birmingham’s new signing is a Honduran defender who has played in the last 6 league and cup games for the Blues. Although listed as a defender, he is also known to play in midfield, so he could be a small steal for you YTM bargain hunters!
361 - Rafael Schmitz - DEF - Birmingham - £2m
The Brazilian defender has started Birmingham’s last two games in the Premier League, and is looking to stay in the starting eleven for as long as possible. He is on loan from Lille, where he has played 99 games since arriving there in 2001.
506 - Matthieu Flamini - MID - Arsenal - £3.5m
For a reason that was beyond me, Arsene Wenger promoted Flamini to a regular in the Gunners’ first team at the beginning of the season. I personally thought that Flamini brought very little to the party when he briefly appeared at the end of games for the past few years. However, he is still in the first team, and is an unsung hero of Arsenal’s success so far this season.
513 - Craig Gardner - MID - Aston Villa - £2.5m
Gardner is a Villa youth product who has scored a couple of goals so far this season. At £2.5m he is very cheap for a player who has been playing fairly regularly for a decent side. Possibility of getting this chap in to cater for some other more expensive stars? Our survey says ‘High’.
666 - Steven Pienaar - MID - Everton - £4.5m
I can’t help but think that by giving Pienaar the number of the beast, I may have ended his chances of scoring any points this season, or even worse! Please Steven, for my conscience, score a few goals, and avoid tricks tomorrow night…
667 - Grant Leadbitter - MID - Sunderland - £3m
No doubt the most creative player for Sunderland. I went to the Stadium of Light on Saturday, and to be honest, he didn’t have his best game. However, if he continues to take the set plays, and Kenwyne Jones continues trying, he should get a lot of KCs.
And there you have it my friends. A few obvious additions there, and a few that will no doubt make you think before entering your teams in an attempt to win a cool £10,000, just in time for Christmas!
Good luck!

With the latest news I am not sure Wilson’s mind is going to be on his game: “Birmingham midfielder Wilson Palacios’s 15-year-old brother, Edwin, has been kidnapped by an armed gang in his home country, Honduras.” Fingers crossed that Edwin is returned home safely and soon.
